25 School Street Draft EPA Proposal

On June 30, 2011 a ribbon-cutting ceremony and celebration took place at the historic Baird-Benton Block, now the home of the College Internship Program (CIP). The complete rehabilitation of the building was undertaken by CIP and represnts approximately $3.7 Million in new private investment downtown.

The private sector building rehabilitation and job creation helped us leverage state grant funding of $1.2 Million for infrastructure improvements including a 61 car public parking lot and a connecting pedestrian way and handicapped access to the downtown area.

CIP's project includes offices, classroom and conference areas on the second and third floors and an art gallery, creperie, and retail on the first floor.

Thepublic Walkway connecting the parking lot with Main Street will be completed by December.

Notice of Intent to Apply for EPA Cleanup Grant

The Town of Lee intends to submit a proposal for an EPA Brownfields Cleanup Grant in order to conduct cleanup activities at 25 School Street in Lee, MA.

A public meeting will be held on November 15, 2011 at 7:00 PM in the Lee Town Hall located at 32 Main Street, Lee, MA 01238 to receive public comment and to discuss the draft proposal and draft Analysis of Brownfields Cleanup Alternatives (ABCA). Public comments may also be submitted via e-mail to bdomina@berkshireplanning.org no later than 4:00 PM on November 21, 2011. 

Copies of the draft proposal and draft ABCA will be available on November 2, 2011 and may be obtained at the Town Clerk’s office during regular business hours and online at http://www.lee.ma.us/ or http://www.leecdc.org/
