On June 30, 2011 a ribbon-cutting ceremony and celebration took place at the historic Baird-Benton Block, now the home of the College Internship Program (CIP). The complete rehabilitation of the building was undertaken by CIP and represnts approximately $3.7 Million in new private investment downtown.
The private sector building rehabilitation and job creation helped us leverage state grant funding of $1.2 Million for infrastructure improvements including a 61 car public parking lot and a connecting pedestrian way and handicapped access to the downtown area.
CIP's project includes offices, classroom and conference areas on the second and third floors and an art gallery, creperie, and retail on the first floor.
